Moving into any new home can be a stressful experience. With all the planning, organizing and scheduling, there is a lot of ground to cover. Luckily, when you move into a retirement community like Riddle Village, there is friendly staff on hand to help you along the way. You will know exactly what to expect on move in day, so that you are prepared for the first day at your new home.

Your move day begins when the moving company you hired arrives at your house, typically in the morning. The process of loading the truck will take a few hours, depending on what belongings you will be bringing and the ease of access the movers have to get in and out your house. In most cases you can expect to arrive at Riddle Village around lunchtime.

Our Staff Is Waiting To Assist You

When you get to Riddle Village, our Move Coordinator, Kelly Naylor, will be ready and waiting to offer you guidance throughout your entire move in process.

“I have helped coordinate hundreds of moves over my 21 years at Riddle Village,” Kelly said. “Please allow me to use my knowledge and experience to make your move day go as smooth as possible!”

Kelly will start by directing the movers to where they can safely park their truck and to the elevator they should use to transport your belongings to your apartment. If you are working with a company that was recommended in our Resource Guide, they will already be familiar with the layout of the community.

Next, Kelly will give you the key to your new apartment and walk you there. When you get to your apartment, you will find an information sheet attached to your refrigerator with important phone numbers, dining hours, and more. The movers will place your furniture where you direct them to, and you and your family can start unpacking your boxes and getting your new home set up. Kelly will bring you a lunch tray so you don’t have to worry about how to handle lunch during the move.

To make sure residents are aware of your move and to let them know the elevator will be used, Kelly will place signs in the elevator lobby of each floor. Thanks to this notification, it is quite common for our residents to stop in to introduce themselves to you when they are walking by.

Feeling At Home With Your New Neighbors

Speaking of your new neighbors, every hallway in the community has a floor representative who is part of Riddle Village’s Resident Council and the marketing department has also formed a Welcome Wagon group.

These residents will make you feel right at home by answering any questions you may have about Riddle Village, inviting you to join them for dinner in one of our dining venues and introducing you to other residents. In addition to our friendly residents, our staff at the concierge desk and the marketing team are always happy to answer any questions you may have.

After you finish unpacking, all you need to do is leave your trash and empty boxes outside your door; our housekeeping staff will be by to remove it for you.

At the end of the day, Kelly and your marketing representative will stop in to see how everything went with your move. Kelly will explain some important information, like our emergency pull cord and check in systems and how to place work orders.

By the end of your move in day, you will be ready for a relaxing night at home. You can sit back, relax, and enjoy a fruit and cheese tray and bottle of wine compliments of Riddle Village.

Congratulations, you are now officially a Riddle Village resident!
